The Amazing Race Canada Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum age requirement?
Applicants must be 19 years of age by April 1st 2015 to apply.
Do I need to be a Canadian Citizen?
You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.
When will I find out if I have been selected to participate in the next round of the casting process for the race?
Applicant teams who have been selected to advance in the casting process will be contacted as early as December 2014.
Will I be contacted regardless of whether or not I make it to the next round?
Due to the large number of applicants for The Amazing Race Canada, we are unable to contact each applicant team. We will only attempt to contact those applicants who are selected to move forward to the next round of the casting process.
Is there a cost to submit an application?
NO. There is no fee to submit an application. You just need to follow the How to Apply instructions on this site.
When do they film the show?
This season of the Race will be filmed in Spring 2015. You need to be available to be on the race during the months of April and May 2015 on an exclusive basis. The whole race process takes about 6 weeks.
Can I apply more than once, with several different teammates?
You can submit applications with as many DIFFERENT teammates as you wish, however we advise that you pick the ONE person that would make the best and most interesting teammate. The Amazing Race Canada is a show about relationships, as well as a race across Canada and the rest of the world, so your teammate should be someone close to you; probably not the co-worker that you have only known for 3 months.
Do I need a professional video made?
No. You can make your own video with the help of your friends and family or you can just make your video on your smartphone or web camera. You can also record your video directly on the application site if you choose, within the time constraints provided.
Just remember we want to see BOTH members of the team in the same video, and only one video can be submitted per application.
I am not able to upload my video, are there any special requirements to do so?
Please ensure your video is less than 80MB and in one of the following file formats: mpg, mpeg, flv, avi,mp4, mov, 3gp, wmv, mv4.
Am I allowed to post my video publicly on Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook or other sites?
Due to the confidential nature of the series, you are advised to keep your application video private while the casting team reviews applications. If you are selected as one of the teams competing on season three of The Amazing Race Canada, you will not be allowed to publicly announce your status until a formal press release is issued. Teams MAY BE DISQUALIFIED for breaching confidentiality.
No consideration is given to the number of views or hits a team’s application video may get when casting the teams for the series.
If I applied in season one or two of The Amazing Race Canada, will my application be considered for season three?
No but you can always apply again for Season 3. We will not be looking at previous years’ applications when casting the upcoming season, although teams who submitted an application for season one or two can submit a new application for season three. We encourage everyone to make a new video for their application for this season to show us who you are right now and why you want to be a team on this season of The Amazing Race Canada.
